Thank you for visiting the Papillon Club of America's website. We hope you find lots of useful information about our delightful breed. The Papillon is a toy dog with a joyful disposition and can be a wonderful addition to many households.
The Papillon is also consistently ranked as one of the more intelligent breeds of dog and their versatility is demonstrated by numerous achievements in performance competition, therapy and service work. For more information, you can view Animal Planet's "Breed All About It" episode on the Papillon here.
The Papillon's trademark ears may be erect or lie by the sides of its head ("Phalene"). Both versions of the breed are considered Papillons under the American Kennel Club breed standard, and are shown together in breed conformation competition.
The Papillon Club of America is the American Kennel Club's parent club for the Papillon breed. If you'd like to know more about the history of the Papillon, click here. Our members are found throughout the United States and the world, and are often found at AKC dog shows and event trials throughout the year. If you'd like to meet some Papillons and their people at one of these events a list of them in your area can be viewed here.
If you arrived at this page because you are looking for a Papillon, please visit our Breeders List to find contact information for breeders in your area. Breeder contact information is also available from our Corresponding Secretary, Nikki Berthold-Illias. Keep in mind that an older puppy or adult is often and excellent choice for today's busy household, and our breeders may have older dogs available including retired AKC Champions.
We hope you enjoy your visit to our site. If you have additional questions or comments, please contact us.
